Yes there have been more than one Buddha. According to Theravada tradition many Buddgas have come and gone. Every once in awhile a person rediscovers the path to awakening. The most recent person was Sidhartha Guatama, known as Buddha. There are said that more like Sidhartha will come and teach what he did. So yes there are more than one "Buddha."
Yes, there were other buddhists inthis world but they just come and go after numerous times. After some time, another soon-to-be buddhist will arrive and through all of his time through thinking everything through, he will eventually reach Nirvana. He or she will seperate themselves from the long round of rebirth and become arahant. (Worthy one)
That jolly fellow with the large belly who appears in Chinese and Japanese art — and who serves as a fashionable ornament in countless lawns and gardens — represents Maitreya from a previous lifetime.
Also, there have and will be other Buddhas. The reason be hind this is reincarnation. Since Gotama was the most recent Buddha, his teachings have not yet been forgotten.
Another Buddha will be born once the world "declines into darkness" again, and a new Buddha will be born to "spread light."
Then that Buddha will achieve Nirvana and become one with the universe and another one will be born to take his place once the previous guy's teachings are forgotten and so on and so forth.
Yes, According to Theravada tradition, many Buddas have come and gone. Every ones in a blue-moon, some one is born who rediscovers the path of Awakening. Most recent = siddhartha Gautama. He is known as Budda. The next budda due is Maitraya. SO this explains that there has been more than one Buddha
Yes there have been more than one Buddha. According to Theravada tradition many Buddha’s have come and gone. The reason on this behalf is reincarnation. Since Gautama was the most recent Buddha, his teachings have not yet been forgotten. more likely they will come and go. soon some one is born who rediscovers the path of Awakening. Therefore yes there have been more then one Buddha
It's Raymond YES, ACCORDING TO THE THERAVADA TRADITION, THERE WERE MANY BUDDHAS. BUT THEY COME AND GO. THEY ALL HAVE THEIR OWN WAYS OF ENLIGHTENMENT. THE MOST RECENT IS SIDDHARTHA GAUTAMA. MY OPINION IS THAT HE IS THE REAL BUDDHA, ATHOUGHT THERE ARE MORE THAN ONE BUDDHA IN THE PAST. I WOULD LOVE TO BE A BUDDHIST AND MEDITATE :P
Yes, there has been more than one Buddah because it has been stated that many buddah's have come and gone over the countless eons. It is also mentioned how anyone can become a buddah by: ~an indivisual being born, than through their effort rediscover the long- forgotten path to awakning and liberates themself once and for all from the long round of rebirth. Turning into the "worthy one" like PREVIOUS buddahs such as Siddhatta Gotama and Maitreya.
ok...Yes, there has been more than one Buddha. According to the Theravada there has been Buddha's have come and gone. The recent Buddha goes by the name of Siddhartha Gautama.
I disagree with Nabila. This is because there are actually many many many Buddhists living right now. I think that Nabila confused Buddhist with Buddha.
According to Theravada tradition, many Buddhas have come and gone; Death of a Buddha and the beginning of a person that will be a Buddha. On occasion, a person will be enlightened. The most recent Buddha was Sidhartha Gautama, who discovered enlightenment(the cure for all suffering and pain). Gautama is long dead by now, and although he was the last Buddha he died a several hundred years ago.
Have there been other Buddha's? Do you know? well i've been doing research on it, and aas it turns out there is been other Buddha's. According to Theravada, many Buddhas have come and gone over countless times (long times). it is said that every once, in a long peroid of time an individual is eventually born who rediscovers the long-forgotten path to Awakening and liberates himself once and for all from the long round of rebirth. the first Buddha is said to be Siddhartha Gautama
There have been other Buddhas. So far, Siddhath Gautama is the most recent one. He's the one people refer to as Buddha. According to the Theravada tradition, many buddhas has come and gone as time goes on. But I'm not sure if anybody has any evidence of a budhha before Sidhartha Gautama. According to the tradition, every once in a while, the world falls into darkness and in time, a person is born who discovers the long forgotten path to nirvana. The upcoming buddha will discover the Four Noble Truths and Eightfold Path again even if they were originally forgotten. The next buddha is said to be Maitreya. It's said according to legend that he will be born into a human form and become the next Buddha. So, there have been other Buddhas in the world.
WiTHOUT looking, i think that there is more than one buddha. The most famous and well known buddha was Gautama. He started it all. Buddha's can come and go, and thats why I think that there will always be an continuing cycle of buddha's. [sorry if i spelled any words wrong]
Yes, there have been other buddha's. From the Theravada tradition, many Buddha's have come and gone over eons. Every so often, after darkness covers the universe, a human is born. The founer of the Buddha's, his name is Siddhartha Gautama. He eventually changes his name to Buddha.
Yes there have been other Buddhas. According to Theravada tradition, many Buddhas have come and gone. The Buddha that we are familiar with is Siddhartha Gautama who is also known as the Buddha (Enlightened One). The next Buddha to appear is Maitreya, who resides in the Tustia Heavens. Legend has it, in the future when the teaching of the current Buddha is forgotten, he will reborn again (reincarnation) and discover the teaching again including the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path.
Yes, there have been other Buddhas because according to Theravada tradition, many Buddhas have come and gone over the periods of time. The most recent Buddha is Siddhattha Gotama, who was born in India in the sixth century BCE. He is the one we usually refer to as "The Buddha". ~andreea.801 =]
Yes, there has been more than one Buddhas. According to Theravada traditions, many Buddhas have appeared and left several times. The most recent Buddha is Siddhartha Gautama, who most people are often familiar with. The next Buddha was said to be Maitreya who is currently residing in the Tusita Heavans.Legend says that the teachings of a Buddha will be forgotten and then he will be born back again as a human, rediscovering the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path. So there is more than one Buddha.
In my opinion, there is more than one Buddha. According to the Theravada tradition, "many Buddhas have come and gone." I think this is true because over long periods of time and as we advance generations, new people come and they teach the beliefs that Siddhartha Gautama once taught. But the thing that these people don't know is that there has already been someone who taught these beliefs. Not knowing this, they refer to themselves as "Buddha". So yes, i think there is more then just one Buddha.
Ofcourse there were other Buddhas, because some people in that one religion may have different thougths on one subject. Over the years many ones were born especially with reincarnation. The theravada tradition showed there were different buddHas.The buddhas may come and go and have different ways of enligthment. -Carmela 801
Yes there have been more than one buddha. For example, according to the theravada tradition, they come and go. The most recent buddha that came was named SIDDHARTHA GAUTAMA. As you can see, that there have been more buddhas.
Yes, there has been other Buddhas. To become a Buddha you have to free yourself from the cycle of rebirth and become awakened. That means that if a person has achieved their goal to nirvana and have become "one with god" they are considered to be a Buddha.
Yes there has been other Buddhas. Since Buddhism has been spread. More than one person have become an enlightenment one. An example is Sidhartha Guatama.
Yes, according to the information found from the Theravada tradition, many bhuddas have come. One of the well known Bhuddas are Sidhartha Guatama. It is said for a Bhudda to come and go like a cycle.
So yea there has been other Buddist than the recent one Guatama they always come and go like guatama is remebered right now cuz hes most recent but soon hell be fogotten then another on will come along and follow nirvana, get inner peace, then teach the world about it for the rest of his life then soon he'll dies and be remebered for a few years till another one comes along and it goes on and on so much reincarnation i dont think this cycle never ends does it? because then that would be the end of Buddist religion i think i am right okay anyways see ya =]
Yes, there have been other Buddhas, because Buddha means "the enlightened one" and there probably has been many other people who have been "enlightened" like Siddhartha Gautama, but they are not as known as much as Gautama. Also, according to the Theravada tradition many Buddhas have come and gone for eons of time, because every once in a while a person is born that rediscovers the meaning of life and later on in their life they become a Buddha or "Enlightened one". So all in all, there have been other Buddhas.
hey its fahmida, :) so is there more than one buddha, i definitely think so. i know that there is more than one buddha because Sidhartha Gautama is just the most recent one. for example another buddha is MaitreyA.According to the Theravada there has been Buddha's have come and gone. After some time ANOTHER BUDDHIST will eventually reach Nirvana. He or she will seperate themselves from the long round of rebirth and become arahant.
Yes there have been other Buddhas. According to Theravada tradition, many Buddhas have come and gone over countless eons. Every once in a while a person is born and through his efforts, rediscovers the path to awakening. When his paramis are fully developed he will be called a "Buddha." So indeed there have been more than one "Buddha."
Of course, there are other Buddhas in the world. Why do you think Buddhism is so important. But before you become a Buddha you have to achieve nirvana and have become "one with god." One well known Buddha is Sidhartha Guatama. Also according to theravada tradition many Buddhas have come and gone like eons.
Yes there have been more than one Buddha in this world. According to the Theravada tradition, every once and a while an individual rediscovers the path of enlightenment. Thereby becoming an arahant, or, "worthy one". The most resent individual was Sidhartha Gautama. So yes, that proves that there has been more than one "Buddha".
There are other Buddhas in the world. This is because that Sidhatra Guatama was considered as the "enlightened one." There have been other "enligtened ones" It's just that he is more well known.

A Buddha will achieve Nirvana and become one with the universe, then [another one will be born to take his place] once the previous guy's teachings are forgotten and so on and so forth.
I understand what you're saying, but, every soul is different and is unique.
Once a Buddha reaches Nirvana, their soul is said to becomes one with the universe.
A majority of us said that great Buddha's are [reborn] through reincarnation - the "birth" of a soul in a human body.
But, I did say every soul is unique, right?
The souls that are "born" in a human have their own individuality.
It is the mind of the human that makes them the great Buddha that they might be.
Although, since I'm HIndu, there is a contreversy between this idea and my religion.
In Hinduism, it is believed that the soul is never born and never dies.
So perhaps The [mind] of the Buddha is freed from the cycle of birth and death, while the soul continues on.
My two main points (if what I just wrote was confusing) are:
. Even though the soul of a great Buddha merges and becomes one with the universe, a similar soul shall be "born" and become the new Buddha that will "spread light" into the world that has "declined into darkness" after the teachings of the previous Buddha have been long forgotten.
. And the other thing was the contreversy between my religion and Buddhism. The soul is never born and never dies, so it is only the thoughts, ideas, and philosiphies of the Buddha that become one with the universe, not their soul.
Yes... If I am to receive credit, I would like it to go towards my horrible test score. (y'know the one about hinduism?) Yea, that one.

Good day to you Mr. B
~ Chandanie
Sup mr. B.
Hey!!
Of course there have been previous Buddhas in this world.
Buddha means "the enlightened one."
And I'm Sure there have been many other people who have been dedicated to the religions of buddhism.
Therefore, there have been other Buddhas before the most current one, Sidhartha Guatama.
CHANDNI TARIQ-801
YAY! I was right!
Mr. B I just wanted to clarify something I said wrong.
The soul is reincarnated into a new body after it leaves one body.
Also, the soul enjoys the fruits of its actions from the previous birth.
That is why some people are born with handicaps and in poor homes while others are born healthy and in rich homes.
This shows that the soul inherits a body according to its actions from the previous birth.
All actions in a persons lifetime is recorded by the soul, and as such, takes those actions into its next birth.
The soul is continuously reborn until it acheives Moksha by Karma.
Yes. I showed the blog to my dad and he told me I said some things wrong.
So I just decided to clarify what I said incorrectly.
I think it was the part where I said the soul is never born and never dies.
^_^
